Lot 0310: ANCIENT 100 TO 300 AD ROMAN GLASS JUG WITH HANDLE

41 reviews

An ancient Roman glass oinochoe jug or pitcher. Circa 100 to 300 AD. The jug, made of light green glass, has an ovoid body with a tall cylindrical and ribbed neck and trefoil lip. An undulating trail around the base of the neck and a trailed handle joining the body to the rim, where it is folded and flattened to form an upright thumb rest. The curved trefoil mouth made it possible to pour from the front of the vessel mouth or from either one of its curved sides. Ancient Archaeological Artifacts And Art Collectibles.
