A pair of ink paintings on paper depicting portraits after Wolfgang Speer, German, 1926 to 2015. Each is signed, lower right. The first is inscribed, Puong Thi Lua, Nam Ha Vietnamese, Wolfgang Speer, on the backside. The second is inscribed, Wolfgang Speer, Portrait of Do Khac Ke, Activist der LPG Truc Chinh, Vietnamese, North Vietnam War, circa 1968, on the backside. In early 1970, graphic artists Peter Westphal and Wolfgang Speer, 1926 to 2015, embarked on a six week study trip through the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. They were supposed to make portraits of North Vietnamese people and soldiers in the war against South Vietnam and the US. After they had left, 50 selected works were presented in the exhibition Menschen des sozialistischen Vietnam, People of Socialist Vietnam in Hanoi.
