Soo Cheong is known for Abstract marine, landscape and figure painting and ink drawing. Iconic and innovative Singaporean artist Cheong Soo Pieng is famous for his Nanyang paintings and pioneering efforts in that style, however his subjects and styles actually spanned the artistic spectrum from realist to abstract. Furthermore, other styles he practiced were difficult to place on the spectrum because they were the result of his constant experimentation and use of new media, such as metal installations, wood, and cloth, to create his own unique styles. His methods mirrored his dual Western and Eastern educations and the melting pot of cultures and influences he witnessed while living in China and Southeast Asia. He made a profound impact on Singaporean modern art in a short time period due to his ability to learn many different styles throughout his career. One of a kind artwork.
