A Japanese Satsuma hand enamelled porcelain vase. The vase has an urn shaped body, a short neck with flared rims, pronounced base. The ware is adorned with hand painted traditional medallions representing court scenes and winter landscapes surrounded by floral, foliage, and foliate scroll ornaments and richly adorned with gilding. The base features a traditional Greek pattern. Signed with red ink Calligraphy, on the bottom. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
