The collection includes illustrations for fables, La mort et le Bucheron, Death and the Woodcutter; Contre ceux qui ont le gout difficile, Against those with difficult tastes; La cigale et la fourm, The Cicada and the Ant. Each is inscribed in the print, lower right. All are framed. Jean de La Fontaine, French, 1621 to 1695, was a French fabulist and one of the most widely read French poets of the 17th century.
