A Southwestern Hopi Kachina hand carved doll head. Circa: 1920s, Late Traditional era. Hand carved and polychrome hand painted traditional ceremonial ornaments and features. Kachina or katsina figures are used to instruct young women about the immortal beings that act as messengers between humans and the spirit world.
