Lot 0044: ATTR GEORGE BELLOWS AMERICAN SEASCAPE OIL PAINTING

41 reviews

An oil on canvas painting attributed to George Wesley Bellows, 1882 to 1925, an American Realist artist, student of Robert Henri. Bellows is known for his bold depictions of urban life in New York City. This lot represents another part of the masters work, a seascape. The piece depicts a harbor with fishing boats, presumably at Matinicus Island, Maine. Signed by the artist in the lower right. Undated. Collectible Maritime Nautical Fine Art, Landscape, Ashcan School.
