A vintage patinated bronze sculpture depicting a lowing elk after Prosper LeCourtier, French, 1851 to 1924. Mounted on a figural base. Signed with casting, P. LeCourtier, on the base. Mounted on a marble stand. Prosper Lecourtier was a highly esteemed French sculptor renowned for his masterful depictions of animals. Prosper LeCourtier was born in Gremilly, North East France in 1855. He trained under the direction of the highly regarded Animalier sculptor Emmanuel Fremiet where he learned to hone his talents as a sculpture.
