Lot 0250: ANCIENT ROMAN TERRACOTTA AND GLASS ITEMS

41 reviews

A lot of four ancient Roman items. A pair of ancient Roman Byzantine Empire terracotta lamps, most commonly known as slipper lamps. One lamp with a double handle and gallon body. The body tapers into the nozzle. Its basic function was to provide light through the oil in the tank and the wick that was located in the rostrum. It was also used as a votive and funerary element. The second lamp has a flattened, round, carved design with protruding holed handles. Circa: 4th to 6th century AD. An ancient Roman multicolor glass beaded necklace. Each bead, meticulously crafted, reflects the artistry and sophistication of Roman craftsmanship. An ancient brown terracotta jug with an ovoid body adorned with handles has a short neck.
