A West African tribal Zulu dance shield. The shield made of carved wood features a round shape decorated with a scalloped form accented with various shades of kaolin clay pigment. Has a handle carved from the same wood on the reverse. It belongs to the warlike tribes of South Africa and is made by traditional South African craftsmen.
