Oil on board Still Life painting by William Goodridge Roberts, 1904 to 1974 a Canadian artist known for his landscape paintings, still lifes, figure paintings and interiors. The fine painting depicts a still life with a vase and a pink rose lying on the table. Signed lower left. Matted and framed. In 1952 William Goodridge Roberts was elected a Corresponding Member and in 1957 a Full Member of the Royal Canadian Academy. In 1960 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of New Brunswick. In 1969 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and in the same year was awarded a solo retrospective at the National Gallery of Canada, a rare achievement for a living Canadian artist.
