Oil on panel painting. Late 19th-century. The artwork represents the Hawaiian Royal Coat of Arms over a banner inscribed UA MAU KE EA O KA AINA I KA PONO, roughly translated into English as The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness, which was the motto adopted by the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1843. Inscription Hawaiian Legation in the bottom refers to the offices of the Kingdom of Hawaii representatives which were active before it became a state in 1894. Golden frame.
