A finely cast French Empire gilt bronze and marble mantel clock in the Louis XVI taste, representing a Cupid in a shell chariot sailing in waves with two doves flying forward. Oval beige marble base with cut sides resting on four feet. White enamel dial with black Roman numerals, marked: Deniere Ft de Bronzes and Paris. Comes with a winding key, Circa 1870. The Deniere firm was noted for their exceptional bronze casting, exhibiting at the Paris 1855 World Fair and having multiple royal commissions including the coronation coach of Charles X.
