An antique 19th century baggy carriage lamp. The lamp features a rectangular shape made of metal and brass and is covered with glasses on two sides, one of which is red, and a reflector on the third side, made of polished metal that diffuses the incoming light. An air duct for heat output is located on top, and below is the place where the candle was placed. These lamps were installed in the front of carriages and stagecoaches on both sides of the coachman. They were designed not only to illuminate the road but also to indicate the dimensions of the carriage, which was important on the narrow, unlit roads of that time.
