An antique Japanese, Meiji Period, hand painted ceramic vase was made in the Japanese province of Satsuma. The vase has a slightly round bodied shape and is delicately decorated. The vase is adorned with a portrait of a hawk seated on a tree branch and a scene with a crane over the waves. The base and the neck of the vase are decorated with fire, floral and foliage motifs. The ware features gilded accents. Signed with red Calligraphy characters, on the bottom. Presented in an original box, marked with a paper label, Trade Mark Kokusan.
