Etel Adnan was a Lebanese American poet, essayist, and visual artist. Adnan made visual works in a variety of media, such as oil paintings, films and tapestries, which have been exhibited at galleries across the world. Etel Adnans career spans several decades and encompasses a wide range of media including painting, drawing, tapestry, film, ceramics, and leporello artist books as it does traditions and locations. Adnan was first an author of poetry and prose, often addressing and protesting against the turmoil of the Vietnam War and the Lebanese Civil War. In the 1960s, she began integrating Arabic calligraphy into her artworks and her books. One of a kind artwork.
