An ancient Roman glass oinochoe jug or pitcher. The jug, made of light green glass, has an ovoid body with a tall cylindrical neck and trefoil lip. An undulating trail around the base of the neck and a trailed handle joining the body to the rim, where it is folded and flattened to form an upright thumb rest. The lower part of the body is ribbed from the bottom to the center. This glass example was likely used for the serving of wine. The curved trefoil mouth made it possible to pour from the front of the vessel mouth or from either one of its curved sides. Ancient Archaeological Artifacts And Art Collectibles.
