An antique, American 19th century cut crystal candy dish or a serving bowl with sterling silver rims by Gorham Manufacturing Company. The item is marked with the manufacturers mark, which features a lion turned to the right, an anchor, the letter G, and the sterling silver D 453 M. The Gorham Manufacturing Company is one of the largest American manufacturers of sterling and silverplate and a foundry for bronze sculpture. Gorham Silver was founded in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1831 by Jabez Gorham, a master craftsman, in partnership with Henry L. Webster.
