An antique late 18th-century Russian Orthodox icon depicting the All-Seeing Eye of God with Guardian Angel and John Chrysostom on the side borders. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with gilding. Title and inscriptions in Church Slavonic. This icon type is a symbolic and allegorical composition of the words form the Bible: Behold, the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, Psalms 33:18.
