A pair of antique Chinese folding hand painted wooden wedding basket boxes made in various designs. The exterior of the first box with two folding compartments is adorned with hand painted gilded designs representing dragons, Phoenix birds, animals, butterflies, flowers, fruits, and trees; and a gilded metal handle featuring an engraved dragon pattern. The second box is decorated with hand painted scenes representing ladies in a garden; a cover featuring a scene with three male figures and a pair of metal handles; and a metal clasp on the front. The interiors are adorned with a Calligraphic motif. Unmarked. Circa: early 20th century.
