B. Prabha, Indian, 1933 to 2001, oil painting on canvas depicting a double portrait of women with a mandolin, 1989. Signed and dated, lower left. Completed with a certificate of authenticity, signed by Nayana Sarmalkar. B. Prabha is known for Female portrait, figure, genre easel and mural painting. B. Prabha entered the art world at a time when few Indian women were professionally involved in the art world. Having grown up in the small Indian village of Bela, near Nagpur, India, her work found perennial theme in the lives of rural women, and the artist continually explored an array of related subjects alluding to society, identity and gender equality. One of a kind artwork.
