A Southwestern patinated bronze sculpture after the original, The Savage, 1908, by Frederic Remington, American, 1861 to 1909. With exaggerated phenotypically Native features, a defiant expression, and bared teeth, The Savage represents a common conception of the Indigenous American in Remingtons art. Mounted on a rectangular shaped base with a gold tone metal plaque inscribed, Savage Frederic Remington. Frederic Remington was the most successful and famous Western American artist. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, American Indians, and the US Cavalry.
