An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon representing St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki, flanked by St. Anthony of Rome and St. Irene of Athens, being blessed by Jesus Christ from heaven. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with gilding. Each saint is named in Church Slavonic. Provenance: Sothebys Parke-Bernet, Sale 4322, lot 460, December 11, 1979.
