A fantastic African tribal, Pwo or Mwana Pwo, hand carved wooden mask, with an elaborate hairline made up of braided fiber fabric, and unusual scarification patterns on the forehead and cheeks originate from the Chokwe people of Angola. The cross form on the forehead, known as cingelyengelye, is an early Portuguese influence. The neck part is decorated with a woven fabric and sewn with a mask through holes. Mask representing ideal young female beauty, Mwana Pwo were danced during initiation ceremonies to bring fertility and prosperity to the village.
