An ancient elaborately carved pottery bowl of the Maya people. Ca. 650 to 850 CE. Bowls of such a red shade with embossing are rare among Maya ceramics. The picture was deeply engraved on two stamps and then applied to the wet clay of the vase to form a relief pattern inside the recess. Before firing, the phase was dried in the sun and colored. After firing, it acquired the delicate red color that it has to this day. The hand painted pictures shows a scenes with people, birds and animals.
