An antique early 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon representing Our Lady of Akhtyr, Mother of God praying to her Son on the Cross. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Silver riza or oklad with filigree decor and gemstones, frame type. According to the legend, the icon appeared to the priest of the town of Akhtyrka, Russia on a hayfield in 1739. After placing it in the temple, the icon began to work miracles.
