Oil on board painting. After the 1793 artwork by Colonel John Trumbull, 1756 to 1843, an American artist and military officer best known for his historical paintings of the American Revolutionary War. Miniature size, oval format. The artwork represents a portrait of a Civil War officer. The depicted is Thomas Seymour, 1757 to 1811, lieutenant in Second Continental Regiment of Dragoons. Titled on the backside. The original piece is part of a set of miniatures of Revolutionary War military officers painted by Trumbull in preparation for several history paintings. Golden frame.
