Oil on board painting. American school, mid to late 19th century. Follower of Martin Johnson Heade, 1819 to 1904, an American marine and still life artist associated with the Luminism movement. The artwork depicts a sailboat at sea during sunset. Unsigned. Titled Luminist Seascape on the backside. Golden frame. Luminism is an American landscape painting style of the 1850s to 1870s, characterized by deep interest in the effects of light in nature. Collectible Fine Art, Maritime Nautical Landscape.
