The oval shaped icon features an embossed silver riza, or oklad. The backside of the icon is covered with velvet. The icon has a ring for hanging. Hallmark of 84 silver standard and makers marks are on the riza. Mother of God of Smolensk is a highly venerated Orthodox icon of Hodegetria iconography.
