An antique Russian Orthodox icon of Mother Of God Kazanskaya. The icon dates back to 1927. The hand painted icon with egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood panel. The icon is overlaid with a chased metal, presumably gilt silver, oklad or riza. Inscribed lower to the center with church Slavonic. Сovered on the sides and back with red velvet and has an inscription on the back. Framed to a wooden gilt drame. The Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is a revered miraculous icon of the Mother of God, which appeared in Kazan in 1579. One of the most revered icons of the Russian Orthodox Church.
