Lot 0526: ANTIQUE ROMAN STYLE EMBOSSED WALL PLAQUES WITH FIGURES

41 reviews

A lot of two antique Roman style decorative embossed copper wall plaques, each adorned with intricate classical reliefs. The first plaque depicts a profile of the Greek goddess Athena or Minerva, wearing a detailed Corinthian style helmet adorned with a plume and a dragon figure. The second plaque, after a model from 1815 by Bertel Thorvaldsen, presents a dynamic scene of a flying winged woman in flowing robes, holding flowers, accompanied by a child clinging to her. This image suggests a mythological or allegorical representation, evoking themes of abundance or divine protection. Both plaques have an aged copper patina, contributing to their antique aesthetic. Vintage and Antique Greek, Roman Plaques, Plates, Historical Pieces, and Collectibles.
