An antique Russian icon of the Kazan Mother of God hand painted on a wooden board. Circa 19th to 20th century. The prototype of the icon was found back in 1579 in Kazan. The Virgin is depicted frontally, with a slight tilt of the head towards Jesus. On one arm of the Virgin sits the Infant Jesus Christ. The Jesus Christ is presented strictly in full face, and only the right hand with a blessing gesture is visible. Antique Russian Orthodox Religious Items and Collectibles.
