An antique 19th century Russian Orthodox hand painted icon of Saint Eustace. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board, gold background. Saint Eustace is revered as a Christian martyr. Saint Eustace is depicted frontally half figured, holding a cross with his right hand and holding a sword with his left one. Titled in Church Slavonic, lower to the center. Presented in a wooden kiot with an opening door and featuring scalloped rims. Eastern Christian Icons, Religious Items And Collectibles.
