Cast bronze sculpture after Baltasar Lobo, 1910 to 1993, a Spanish artist. A contemporary of Jean Arp and Constantin Brancusi, Lobo innovated a pared-down approach to the human form, and his work demonstrates a particular affinity for the female nude and mother and child figures. This lot is a fine example of the artists mature style, it represents a reclining female bust executed in abstract rounded shapes. Titled Buste contemplative. Dated 1956. Signed by the artist and numbered 3 out of 6 on the bottom. The piece is mounted on a white stone base. Collectible Modernist Sculpture And Decor, Limited Edition.
