An ancient Indian stone sculpture of a Madanika dancer. Circa 12th century. The sculpture features a body fragment of Apsara Devangana, popularly known as Madanika, the celestial maiden. Provenance: Ex Private Collector USA, Acquired Before 1960. Comes with a stand. Madanikas were widely used in the decoration of temples in Karnataka, a state in Southwestern India from 11 to 12th century.
