An antique English Sterling silver miniature tea service set on a tray by Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders and James Francis Hollings Shepherd. Circa 1900s. Featuring a tea pot, creamer and and sugar bowl. The tea pot in an oval shape with figurative handle, embossed body decor and with an embossed lid decorated with globe shaped finial. The spout of the pot is also decorated with embossed design. The creamer is decorated with a small spout and a figurative handle, as well as decorated with embossing. The sugar bowl is decorated with two handles and embossing. The oval tray has sides at the edges, handles and is mounted on globe shaped four feet. Each item is hallmarked on the bottom with manufacturers mark, an anchor, lion turned to the left. Saunders and Shepherd, also known as Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders and James Francis Hollings Shepherd, were established as a manufacturing jewelers and silversmiths in London in 1869, and have remained in operation to this day. With expansions into branches in London, Chester, and Birmingham, the company achieved significant success and was officially incorporated as Saunders, Shepherd & Co. Ltd. in 1916.
