An antique early 20th century finely hand carved African wooden statuette of the Mbala ethnic group depicting a drummer. The figure has a hat on his head, he holds the instrument between his legs to play it. It is made of dark hardwood. The piece is mounted on a wooden stand. The stylistic influence of the southern Congo can be traced in Mbala art, which is explained by the geographical origin of this ethnic group from Angola.
