An antique Japanese, early Meiji era, enamel over gilt copper covered jar. The exterior of the jar is adorned with polychrome enamel medallions representing butterflies, and a dragon in blossoming flowers surrounded by floral and foliate scroll ornaments made in the Cloisonne technique. The neck and the cover are decorated with floral and foliage motifs made in the same technique. The base is adorned with floral, foliage and geometrical ornaments. Circa: 1868 to 1877.
