An antique Japanese late Meiji era decorative enamel over copper plate or charger. The interior of the plate is adorned with a polychrome scene depicting a peacock seated on a sakura tree branch surrounded by cloud and geometrical ornaments on the turquoise ground made in the Cloisonne technique. The borders are decorated with floral and foliage ornaments made in the same technique. The backside is decorated with a floral, cloud, and butterfly wing ornaments made in the Cloisonne technique. Marked or signed with Calligraphy, on the backside. Circa: the late 19th to the early 20th century.
