A 13th century Italian illuminated miniature on vellum. Illuminated initial I incorporating two Biblical scenes: The Annunciation, and The Presentation of the Child in the Temple. Done in various colours against a background of blue. This miniature is one of n Collection formed by Sargeant Arthur Hutton of the First British Infantry under Major General Ferguson in Spain, during the war of 1812 to 1814. These were cut from various liturgical manuscripts on vellum of different periods and mounted in an album. Professor Dean Mather of Princeton University, an authority on Illuminated Miniatures has given his opinion that this is an authentic example of the XIII Century Illuminated Miniature.
