Lot 0257: ANTIQUE BRONZE LAMP WITH RUSSIAN COSSACK AFTER LANCERAY

41 reviews

An antique bronze lamp featuring a sculpture of a cossack on horseback in the manner of Evgeny Lanceray, one of the most celebrated sculptors of the Russian Empire. Yevgeny Yevgenyevich Lanceray, 1875 to 1946, also often spelled Eugene Lansere, was a Russian graphic artist, painter, sculptor, mosaicist and illustrator, associated stylistically with Mir iskusstva, the World of Art. The highly detailed sculpture depicts a mounted Cossack warrior dressed in traditional clothing, while the lamp itself presents a tree stem with a lamp shade designed as a makeshift tiled roof and windows with colored glass inserts. There is a light bulb inside. Circa the early 20th century. Antique Russian Bronze Sculptures And Lightening Collectibles.
