Kathe Kollwitz, German, 1867 to 1945, bronze sculpture titled Der Abschied, or Leave, from circa 1940. One of a limited edition of 50 pieces, this sculpture was cast in 1975. The piece is signed KK on the back. On a square marble base. Known for her deeply emotive and socially conscious art, Kollwitzs oeuvre spans painting, printmaking, and sculpture, depicting the impacts of poverty, hunger, and war on the working class.
