An antique Victorian 18kt rose gold plated propelling pencil, Victorian era, circa 1885. The pencil has a sleek alternating design of smooth gold, decorated with a design in the form of foliage and ribbed above, the front side is adorned with a rose gold plated shield with an engraved monogram OH. At the top of the pencil is a fitting ring. These pencils were small, hung on a chain and carried along with a small notebook, where they wrote down the names of the gentlemen with whom the ladies danced. The gold was tested for 18K.
