Lolo Dolores Nieto Soldevilla, Cuban, French, 1901 to 1971, mixed media painting on masonite depicting an abstract representation with geometric, circular, rectangular, square, and linear elements, in green, yellow, gray, blue, and black tones, 1954. Signed and dated lower right. Framed. Lolo Soldevilla is known for Mixed media panels with geometric shapes. Lolo Soldevilla was a painter, sculptor, draftsman, and Cuban engraver. She was one of the most important representatives of abstract geometric art in her country and is considered a seminal figure in the promotion of Cuban Art, especially Concrete Cuban art abstraction with international influence. She strongly rejected the nationalist figurative work of the Vanguardistas, which pushed for radical social reforms. Her methods included painting, drawing, and collage. One of a kind artwork.
