An antique Japanese Satsuma enamel pottery bowl. The exterior of the ware is adorned with polychrome hand enameled images of animals, dragons, and mythological creatures surrounded by blossoming flowers with gilded accents. The interior of the bowl features a garden with blossoming flowers and butterflies with gilded accents. The borders are decorated with geometrical ornaments and scalloped rims. Fine detail work. Marked with a gilded Calligraphy, a red ink mark, and a stamp, on the bottom. Circa: early 20th century. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
