An antique Russian porcelain fruit bowl from the Babigon service by the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, Saint Petersburg. Period of Nicholas I, 1825 to 1855. White piece with borders of gilt ivy within alternating bands of gold and raspberry, the centre is garnished with a gilt rosette. Blue Imperial cipher of Nicholas I on the bottom. The Babigon service was created in 1824 by the order of Emperor Alexander I. It was used by the royal family as a service for ceremonial receptions. The name Babigon first appeared around 1857 when the original royal service was transferred to the recently built Babigon pavilion near Peterhof.
