A rare and highly collectible antique 19th century Russian tryptich icon showing saints commemorated in the Orthodox calendar. Hand-painted in egg tempera, gold leaf and gesso on a wood panel with raised kovcheg borders. The left wing of the icon depicts the month January, with feasts such as the Baptism of Christ at 6 January. The left part of the middle depicts the month February, with feasts such as the Presentation of Christ to the Temple, at 2 February. The right part of the middle depicts the month March, where the Annunciation is, for example, depicted at 25 March. The right wing of the icon depicts the month April, which celebrates many important saints, such as the saint George the Dragonslayer at 23 April.
