A vintage Winslow Homer exhibition poster for the 1986 National Gallery of Art, Washington, show titled Watercolors. The poster shows a print of the 1874 watercolor and gouache artwork titled, In the Garden (Rustic Courtship), 1874, by Winslow Homer. Signed in print and dated lower right. Framed, bears a Frame and Save Stamford Fairfield Norwalk paper label verso. Winslow Homer, 1836 to 1910, was one of the all time leading figures in American art, known for his marine genre paintings and for his espousing of realism, especially of American life. From the 1880s, his work was focused on issues of mortality and the forces of nature such as violent storms at sea.
