An antique genre oil painting on canvas by Russian artist Andrei Ryabushkin, titled Gift to Peter I, an Elephant in Moscow. The painting is based on a historical fact from 1714, when the Shah of Persia presented Russian Emperor Peter I an elephant, among other gifts. In the painting by Andrei Ryabushkin, an elephant is depicted on Solyanka Street in Moscow. Provenance: Thrinity International Auctions. Signed lower left. The painting has descriptive information in Russian attached to the back. Andrei Petrovich Ryabushkin, 1861 to 1904, Russian painter, master of genre and historical painting,mainly recreating Moscow life of the 17th and 18th centuries. One of a kind artwork.
