Jeram Patel, Indian, 1930 to 2016, acrylic painting on paper depicting an abstract composition. Signed lower right. Jeram Patel is known for Abstraction, engraving on burnt wood, saturated ink shapes on paper. Jeram Patel, one of the pioneers of abstract art in India, was a founding member of the collective Group 1890, along with artists Jagdish Swaminathan and Gulam Mohammed Sheikh. He was known for using blowtorches on woodwork medium in a method that he learned in Japan and then pioneered in India. Jeram was part of a group of an artists called Group 1890.
